Don't know how good my advice is going to be.

It was merely an observation of my mishandling of this situation so far.

Well, one thing I can advise you on is that relationship stuff is easy to feel like you ruined even if you didn't.

Could be he doesn't know what he wants, either. That's usually a big part of what complicates relationships.

I think that is a large part of it, yes.

Frustrating as hell, though. You've got my sympathies.

He asked me to erase the memories I gave him. But leave us as we were intact.

It hurt to do so. Knowing he will no longer understand me. But I cannot ask him to shoulder the burden of four hundred years.

Next time, instead of putting stuff in his head, try just telling him about it instead.

I did. It did not work.

Can you define what it would look like if it works?

Because I'm not sure him collapsing and having a crisis worked much either, if I'm honest.

Trying to explain how I felt without him seeing my memories only made him angry.

But the alternative is, perhaps, worse. While not angry he was not experiencing a pleasant time.

What do you want his reaction to be, though?

Other than not more angry.

Understanding. I do not want him to love me if he is unable to, simply understand me.

I am tired of being crucified for my choices.

Understanding is hard to come by, even in much better circumstances. Takes time, more than anything.

I am not sure anyone can ever truly understand us.

Worse, me.

I simply do not want to put him through anything more.

And if he cannot love me back, it is not worth his time. Nor mine.

Getting put through things is the only way anything happens. The only way anybody understands anybody else, whether it's enough to love them or not.

I am tired of getting put through it.

I think I am finished with love.

Everybody says that when love isn't working out for them, and love isn't gonna be finished with you.
