If they don't at that point, I say they don't deserve their fingers.
Indeed, though alarm is an interesting word of choice. A discordance in sound is usually just unpleasant to most, but to someone like you, it could signal more. Not in the case of Lantsov, he's harmless... mostly... but just as a general theory.
Don't worry, it's lower Dregs members who get stuck on laundry and kitchen duty. Work the way up the ranks, so to speak. Even I was there once.
True, it is interesting. And I can listen to the Fugue, you know. Not always, but sometimes if I just let myself listen and feel it, I can figure things out. Where people are, where to go, that kind of thing.
Nice to know I got to skip the line. Then, does this mean there's anything only I could do? At my current rung, of course.
That is pretty impressive. I know there are downsides to it as well, but still. I don't suppose this ability extends to finding hats I lose, does it? Just people?
If you want to take on some crow feeding duties I wouldn't be opposed. The roof it frequented enough, anyway.
No, no hat finding. And it's more where they are around me. Like a bat, I guess, hearing how it moves around the room. Doesn't make much sense, since it's all in my head, but it works if I take my time with it.
I think I could manage that. I think I'm already on that roster, considering all the jerky I leave in your desk. Just a different kind of crow.
Oh, like radar? I suppose that makes some sense, with how sounds bounce off things and you being sensitives to them. If you ever develop hat abilities though, do let me know.
Just as long as I'm not left bereft of all jerky, I can share the honor of your feeding.
Kind of, yeah! A little more like a feeling than a beep, and sometimes a lot less accurate, but if I come across any hats in my listening you'll be the first to know.
I swear to perform all feeding duties equally. No crow left behind.
That is the unspoken motto. The actual motto is ‘no mourners, no funerals’ but not leaving anyone behind is something I stand by. Though that’s more life or death. Eating does tend to be everyone for themselves aside from having a stocked pantry.
Depends, I think, on how you do it. There's as many ways to mourn as there are to live, I figure. Most of it just ends up with people crying and nothing being done, which is a disservice to whoever is getting mourned.
I've yet to know any who pass quietly into the good night. I'd rather rage for those no longer left behind to do it themselves. I don't consider it mourning, but to each their own.
True, but I've never known hats to have that much heft to them. Are yours specially lined in lead?
Raging I can certainly relate to. I don't think many others would consider it mourning, either, but I'm a dead lady so I think I have license to be even more poetic about it.
Not usually no, it's far more a matter of angles in the throw and the angle of the brim. A featherlight touch is surprisingly advantageous when properly placed somewhere like an eye.
I hadn't considered that. I know of Sam, rightly understanding your ire from what little you've told, but do you rage for your own demise?
You do have very good aim. How many have you blinded so far? Do you keep a tally?
Not my own, no. Some parts are frustrating, but I always saw it as a gift to have changed the way I was. My voice won't get thin and frail with age, and I can keep singing. Keep doing something. It was all I really wanted, and now I can do it for a lot longer than I could've before.
Less keeping a tally and more just having a good memory. The count is the same purported licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop.
I get that. Not having to worry you might no longer be able to do what you once had would be comforting. And it's impressive you've maintained your drive for so long regarding your singing craft.
People. People that can say 'hey, owl, why are you eating that kid's candy?'
We Embrace men, sometimes. Or those that are neither. They call themselves different things when they get together, but while our bloodline is recognized as the Daughters of Cacophony we aren't exclusive. All voices add to the chorus.
Owls just break all the rules, don't they? I think it's cause their heads can turn all the way around.
We're all like that, to some extent. It's why we only all get together every few years for chorus. The rest of the time, we can have as many solos as we please.
I bet they can hear all the angles, too. Or maybe that's just bats.
Probably! There are a few of us, though, that don't do much stage performing. One of the Elders is settled and works as a voice coach in her evenings. Opera kids, mostly, who usually have parents willing to pay for evening-only lessons.

Like alarms, only there's a guy there for me to take it out on.
Oh, I'm sure there's something I wouldn't be the most keen on doing. Laundry, maybe, or chopping carrots.

You do make sure to keep everyone well fed, and relatively in tact. But I like that motto. I've had plenty of funerals and mourning already.

There doesn't seem to be much point to it. Mourning.

[ She might've missed that commercial meme, and she's immediately derailed thinking this must be a very high number. ]
Part of it is probably the Fugue. Even those of my Sisters that didn't sing before end up finding the talent for it after the Embrace.

[That's probably for the best, because once the commercial's seen, it's difficult to forget.]
So it only happens to women turned, or you and your Sisters only turn women?

Not that I'd recommend going to that length for it, but being turned by your kind sounds like one way to cure stage fright.

I've never heard the term opera kids before, but somehow, I'm not surprised they exist. A cousin of theatre kids.

Very loud cousins, I imagine. That all know Italian.
