Owls just break all the rules, don't they? I think it's cause their heads can turn all the way around.

We're all like that, to some extent. It's why we only all get together every few years for chorus. The rest of the time, we can have as many solos as we please.

Very possible. They're one of the few who can truly see a situation from all angles.

Not that I'd recommend going to that length for it, but being turned by your kind sounds like one way to cure stage fright.

Probably! There are a few of us, though, that don't do much stage performing. One of the Elders is settled and works as a voice coach in her evenings. Opera kids, mostly, who usually have parents willing to pay for evening-only lessons.

I've never heard the term opera kids before, but somehow, I'm not surprised they exist. A cousin of theatre kids.

Razzle dazzle with the gestures and nobody will notice what you're actually saying and planning to use your hands for. Distraction and misdirection are two of the key elements in many sleights of hand.

They should have you direct an opera, Kaz. Gesticulations as far as the eye can see. Coin tricks during intermission. It'd be great.

Can you imagine? I'd take out any dramatic irony that didn't serve the plot's overall long con. What con? Each opera would now have a con.

Every good opera ought to have a con. If not on stage, then in the audience. Tons of rich people at operas.

That is, actually, how I have seen a theatre show before in a playhouse. It wasn't an opera, though. Didn't get to watch much of it, just overheard parts.

That is a pretty good way to get in, though now I guess we need to get you to see a show all the way through.

I cannot say I won't be scanning the audience for potential marks on the way out. I know more than one mercher has season passes to the opera.

Honestly, I might think less of you if you didn't. Though it might not be the best place to pickpocket, but the opera is a prime location for cornering someone in a box seat if need be.

Those boxes are more for being seen than watching the show anyway, aren't they? If you have to use binoculars to view the stage, I'd think there would be other reasons for wanting those seats. Namely, to say you have them.

Sometimes they've also got a good spot for the acoustics, but that's less of a concern to most of them. I've only known a few that had box seats and actually enjoyed the shows they saw, and all of them were Kindred.

That's fair, I hadn't considered the acoustics being better in the boxes. Just that you always see pictures of people with binoculars in them.
