Maybe I could do the whole routine with a tiny little umbrella, go into comedy.
It really is, though I'm happy to pal around with snakes and spiders and creepy crawlies that don't have those hangups. If it's your window we're at, then, we can just keep it open. Remember, I've got umbrellas by the dozen. We'll be fine if it rains.
Is that really the kind of power you want me to have over a conversation?
Notebooks. There's a couple boxes of them I have to keep in storage, but I'm always filling them up. Almost like journals, if journals were mostly song ideas.
Yeah, I can figure most of them out. The things I can't are usually just... References to stuff I've forgotten about over the years. That's why I keep them around.
No reason both can't exist, even if the lullaby comes first.
I don't plan on going anywhere for a long time, Birdie. And I'm extremely memorable to the point of annoyance I'm told. You won't be able to get me out of mind anytime soon. Just when you think you're no longer exasperated over something I've done, you'll get something in the mail to remind you.
I’m just keeping my options open. Neither confirming nor denying.
I know you’d at least appreciate those stories. And likewise, I look forward to hearing about all the protest songs to come. Maybe a demo here or there.
Glad I only ever surprise you with forewarned jerky deliveries, then. Other than that, feels like we're pretty complementary in that regard.
Oh, I have no idea. I'm never awake early enough to make time for wandering a towering capitalist monolith, and I hear the over-80 crowd only goes in the mornings for power walks.
It'd be a real shame if they did. I like you too much to be at wrong odds with you.
Yeah, I've been told most are half abandoned now. Some Kindred do set up shop in the ones that are fully empty, though, so at least it's not a complete loss.
Both, though probably more of the former. It's hard enough to find legitimate housing when you're alive, so hunkering down in abandoned places is ideal for most Kindred. No landlords, no rent or background checks or nosy neighbors. Not everybody has good friends with empty basements.
Some certainly deserve it. Like a vast majority of current landlords.
Not you, of course. Best landlord I've ever had. Don't have to pay rent and I can flirt with you very subtly around your friends and sneak things into your desk to show my affections.
I'm grateful beyond that, but I think you should know what the perks are on my end.

Do you have any other collections aside from umbrellas and record albums?

As long as you can read your own handwriting later on, I get that.

They always say anyway that you can’t miss what you don’t remember. I think it’s true in some situations. Perhaps not all.
no subject
Sometimes I do remember them after a while. I figure time and a bunch of other memories, some just get a little buried. Not lost.
no subject
That makes sense. Besides, it doesn’t pay to wonder what is or isn’t missed if it can’t be found, anyway.
no subject
Very true. Though I do worry sometimes that I'll miss something important the longer I go on.

It might be more a case of what is important shifts as time goes on.
no subject
Yeah, probably. I'd hate to forget you, though.

Oh yeah? Little notes about CEOs you've toppled and politicians you've shamed maybe? I look forward to it, whatever it is.

I'll be sure to keep you up to date on them, send you old fashioned mixtapes of all the highlights.

I'll have Wylan build me something that can play a tape on if I can't find a tape player.

Bet in a few years they'll be back in fashion as being really retro and cool and you can pick one up at a mall.

Malls have too many people, I'll order it online. Although maybe they're not crowded these days.

I think online shopping has dulled some of the craze, but probably not all of it.

Shop as in live there, or work out of it? Or both?

Some, but not many.
