As a roadblock to someone else? I don't know about favorite but the first that comes to mind is having someone rant and rave to their board members about how their business was going south because I summoned an ancient magic group that hasn’t been seen in public in centuries to specifically undermine them. Needless to say, confidence in their leadership skills plummeted after that show.
That sounds lovely. It's always nice to let them ruin themselves, I think. Give them enough rope to tie themselves in knots and step aside to let them trip off a cliff. Hard to pull off, but very satisfying in the end.
There’s little better than letting someone walk themselves to their noose. They might look back on how many other steps they might have taken, they might not, but they can’t ignore that in the end, they’re the last voice heard to their detriment. Given he was a man who loved to hear himself talk, it felt very fitting.
See, now that's poetic. I could make a song with that easy, probably in the Casey Jones style. And who doesn't love hearing about someone getting a good comeuppance for their misdeeds?
Other than the person that got their comeuppance, of course.
It’s one of the best ways to restore faith in the world. I’m guessing that happens to you often, thinking of moments in terms of what songs they might become. I like hearing how different people’s minds work.
Sometimes late at night I can tunnel into work. Having someone to talk with even if I’m also working at the same time hasn’t been a bad thing. My mind likes firing in a few directions at the same time. Oddly, sometimes it even helps with my thinking.
Ah, a natural multitasker. I'm glad I can help, though if there's ever something your stuck on feel free to run it by me. If nothing else, I might be able to make a song out of it.
I like how differently your mind works to mine. I honestly don’t put things to music in my thoughts. I turn over ‘what if’s’ but there’s no tune to it.
You say that now, just wait until I’m annoying you during the daytime with texts when you’re trying to rest in the basement. Or do texts not keep you awake?
I don't figure too many people do. Even other musicians I've talked to probably don't do it as much. My secret is that I've got music playing up there all the time, which probably helps skew things that way no matter what I'm thinking about.
Depends on how loud the phone is, I think. Typically I don't get up in daylight hours at all.
I didn't grow up listening to much music, so that probably didn't help matters.
I think my mind invents pins to drop to wake up from them. I'm glad you're better at resting, I'm not certain I'd want to be around when you're sleep deprived.
Good thing you can always make up for it while I'm around.
Don't know about better. More like... Instinctual compulsion that's hard to break. Getting tired is more a philosophical thing than actual sleepiness, so you don't have much to worry about so long as I'm not hungry.

I appreciate the offer. I’ll keep it in mind. I’m not above a sounding board every so often.

And no one better to be a sounding board than a musician.

Philosophical tiredness honestly sounds worse to deal with than sleepiness.

Oh it can be, though I do my best to ignore it. Only really becomes a problem if I start making everybody in the audience too depressed to tip.
